The Rockets beat the Mavs in the first preseason game, so I think we can all agree that barring injuries this preseason is already a huge success as the Rockets won the most important preseason game of all time. Suck it Dallas! Oh, and technically all Ariza has to do is average half as much across the board as Parsons and he's a better value.
In all seriousness, we saw a trend that seems likely to bleed well into the season: the Rockets are going to be fine with their starters but will be on thin ice whenever their bench takes the court. The Rockets will have to figure out a way to keep Dwight Howard or James Harden on the court at almost all times, because offense looks likely to keep this team from ascending to new heights.
Now, I know that you might be thinking, "AK, it's only been one preseason game! Let's give these guys more of a chance!" You're not wrong. I just think there's quite a bit of inexperience on this bench this season. The Rockets will desperately need someone to step up and grab a few buckets here and there.
