Rockets vs. Blazers Game Four: Late turnovers key as Houston falls in OT

Another game. Another overtime classic. It was the Blazers' turn as Portland made a fourth quarter comeback to take the game into overtime and win it. The Rockets gave it their all, with Troy Daniels continuing his run of heroic play, but they ultimately came up just short to a Portland team that controlled the overtime period.

For the Rockets, the game swung on a crucial play with under thirty seconds left. They led by 2 with fifty seconds left in the contest, and Nicolas Batum rose up for a three that jarred off the rim. Jeremy Lin collected the rebound and ran up the court, not knowing that Mo Williams was in chase. After Williams knocked the ball loose, it fell to Portland, who swung it from side to side before Williams rose up and hit a three that put the Blazers up one.

The Rockets got two shots to win or tie, and ultimately forced overtime as Harden found Dwight Howard for an open dunk, but when overtime got started, the Blazers quickly built a seven point lead. However, as you would expect in this series, the Rockets had an answer. Troy Daniels hit a three, James Harden stepped back for a two, and then Troy Daniels got fouled attempting another deep bomb.

He went to the line for three free throws with a chance to bring the Rockets within one. He hit all three like he had been in the league for a decade. Turns out, they were his first NBA free throws of his career. Mo Williams calmly hit both of his free throws to put Portland back up by three with 8 seconds left, and the Rockets had another chance to tie it. Again, a crucial turnover was killer as Patrick Beverley dribbled into a double team from Portland and had the ball taken away from him. The clock ran out and Portland had game four and a stranglehold on the series.

Game five is in Houston on Wednesday night. The Rockets need a big rally if they are going to make this series go the distance. We'll have more for you as the night goes on.
