The Rockets made their annual trip to the Rio Grande Valley to play at their D-League affiliate's (Rio Grande Valley Vipers) stadium -- State Farm Arena. Unfortunately, the Rockets weren't able to give the Vipers fans a win, falling to 123-119 to the Magic.
Dwight Howard didn't play in the game, and probably James Harden shouldn't have either. Harden was injured in second quarter -- leaving the game with a bruised knee.
Corey Brewer led all Rockets scorers with 20 points in 22 minutes, hitting two three-pointers. Clint Capela picked up 7 rebounds and four points in 21 minutes. Trevor Ariza and Patrick Beverley each had four assists.
Ty Lawson showed his burst on offense, finishing with 11 points.
The Magic outscored the Rockets 70-48 in the second half the game, led by Devyn Marble with 21 points off the bench.
Houston plays at Phoenix in their next preseason game on Tuesday.
