Houston Rockets vs. Miami Heat preseason game preview

New, comments

The Rockets return to Houston to take on the Miami Heat.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

We're reaching the "Hurry up and end already!" portion of the preseason.

The Rockets and most other teams have gotten enough of a look at their players to know what they want to do. Everything else is now for the coaches: rotations, minutes, creating familiarity between new and old players, etc.

Tonight is another test for the younger version of the Rockets. The Heat didn't play Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Goran Dragic, Mario Chalmers, Amar'e Stoudemire, Luol Deng, or Hassan Whiteside in their last preseason game. Some of that is rest and some is legit injuries, but this game should be a complete 180 from the game against the A-Team Warriors. I'm sure the players fighting for the last spot on the roster will be happy to not be going up against the championship squad of last season.

Still, tonight and the remaining preseason games will be for the coaching staff to figure out their offensive and defensive schemes as well as what rotations to use for those schemes.

Tip-off is at 7pm CST and can be seen on Root Sports Southwest.
