Ethan Rothstein, our editor in chief and chief who is also an editor, asked me to start a weekly column, in which I bring you the Weird Rockets Video of the Week. At first I was like, "Are there really that many videos that I could use," and the answer to that question was yes, yes, an overwhelmingly intense and absolute yes. I don't think we knew what we were getting ourselves into.
Here is this week's video.
Bill Worrell Calls Tracy Mcgray ........... Stacy
"Was it on accident?"
No way. NO WAY, man. This video... ugh. Wow. You ever notice how some days it all just seems to be going your way, like you find money on the ground, or you get complimented for no reason two or three times, or you get a good grade back on something you definitely didn't deserve a good grade on, or all of those things happen to you on the SAME DAY? Man. This video is basically that but times a billion.
For some context, Bill Worrell is the main commentator on the Rockets broadcast and has been so since 1980. He's literally been paid to watch basketball for almost twice my lifetime and if you don't think that's the most wild thing I need you to leave now (but don't leave now please, keep reading please). For a little more context, Tracy McGrady was a player for the Rockets who was intensely talented but also made out of the same stuff as that one guy in the episode of Spongebob who breaks his arms every morning and his legs every night.
Bill Worrell doesn't hold back. A couple games ago, when random Knicks players would make shots, dude would openly call them out, and even in one case was like "He's not good..." This is crazy dope that Bill Worrell is the play-by-play version of friggin' Legolas, just takin' aim and firing, but I'd argue it's way funnier when he goes at his own team. Funniest part about this vid, though, is that he's taking headshots at T-Mac at the end of a preseason game, and one the Rockets won at that. Dude really takes no prisoners. That is commendable, honestly.
Worrell's habits haven't really changed. We've all had a great time calling out James Harden this season. I, too, got in on the fun, calling him James Hardashian (and then TDS Writer Kevin Nesgoda got in on it and I got worried adidas was going to sue me or something if it caught on). But, I don't think Bill Worrell gets any kind of enjoyment out of having to call out this team. He can't ragequit watching. Dude has to watch. Think about that. Be honest. Have you watched every minute of this season? If you have, go to response A. If not, response B.
A) No you haven't, you liar. Don't lie to me. I trusted you.
B) That's fine, man. It's cool, really. No, I get it. You're busy...
Here is the best comment from this video. I had 4 to choose from.
*checks video title*
Holy shit, he did spell McGrady as "McGray." That's wild. Truly. Stacy McGray? Are you kidding me? Stacy McGray is the catchiest name I've ever heard. Would you not marry a girl on the spot if she introduced herself as Stacy McGray? If yes, go to response A. If not, response B.
A) She said yes. You're the happiest you've ever been. How's it feel? Amazing? I bet.
B) You're the same liar from the question before, aren't you? Not cool, man.
That was your Weird Rockets Video of the Week. Come back next Wednesday when I'll show you some other ridiculous thing because this is who I am now.
