The "Heart of the Champion" was in the building Thursday night as the Rockets took on the Nuggets. The game itself wasn't the only attraction, though James Harden did his best to become the story of the night dropping a career-high 50 points on Denver. No, the story was the celebration of the Rockets' back-to-back championships.
The stars were out for the occasion, commissioner Adam Silver started off the event by proclaiming the '94 and '95 Rockets as "two of the greatest teams ever assembled." A video played hitting all the highlights from the two seasons, Hakeem's dismantling of David Robinson, the Kiss of death, and coach Rudy Tomjanovich famous word rang throughout the stadium: "Never underestimate the heart of a championship!"
Former public address announcer Matt Thomas introduced the returning champions - Chris Jent, Tim Breaux, Eric Riley, Pete Chilcutt, Charles Jones, Earl Cureton, Matt Bullard, Vernon Maxwell, Otis Thorpe, Mario Elie, Robert Horry, Clyde Drexler, and Hakeem Olajuwon, and coach Rudy Tomjanovich.
Warm memories all around of the team that brought Houston it's first professional championship. Here are some pictures from that night and you can view a video of the celebration in it's entirety by clicking here.
