The Houston Rockets ended any lingering speculation about Donatas Motiejunas' injury and season. The team put out a press release on Wednesday announcing the end of his season and an already completed surgery:
Motiejunas underwent a successful lumbar microdiscectomy today performed by Dr. Robert Watkins. Rockets Press Release. April 4, 2015.
ESPN's Calvin Watkins reported on the surgery and had an opportunity to speak with Dwight Howard about the back injury and surgery:
"I spoke to him [Wednesday] and he's in a tough situation," said Dwight Howard, who underwent back surgery to repair a herniated disk while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2012. "I offered my support, I went through the same thing with my back, I think mine was a lot worse than his."
Motiejunas' injury was originally reported as a sore back and tagged with a now extremely defunct 1 - 2 week timeline.
