The Rockets finally got a team on a back-to-back, so it’s only fitting that the league sends them from Houston to Minneapolis overnight to face a team that has had 3 days off. Sure, that trade-off sounds fair.
By now, you probably know how Minny’s season has gone. The Timberwolves were tabbed to make a huge leap this season. With a respected new coach, two Rookie of the Year award winners, and an emerging young wing, people figured that Minny and Houston would be fighting over the 8 seed in the West.
Well, not so much. The Wolves are 7-18 and have been a disappointment so far. A lot of their troubles have come in the second half, where they are going through the growing pains that young teams all go through. When your three studs are all 21 years old, you can expect some struggles in crunch time.
Anyway, if you think these young Timberwolves can’t stop Houston, you’re wrong. I know everyone wants to call this a “trap game” too (and it’s closer than the New Orleans game was), but in reality this is a game Houston should be taking seriously. Back-to-back, on the road against a young team that knows a win against Houston would validate them and might send them on a winning streak?
Doesn’t sound like a trap game. Sounds like a real contest.
But how about a funny video about the Timberwolves, courtesy of SportsDome, the sports arm of the satirical news site The Onion. It was a TV show on Comedy Central for a little bit, and this was easily their best bit.
Tip-off is at 7pm CT.
