It's been a crazy 24 hours, with the whole city believing Dwight Howard would be on his way to the Miami Heat. Now it looks like the deal might just be falling apart.
A little while back ,Chris Bosh pulled out of the All-Star game with a calf strain. As of reports from Monday night the "strain" could be much more serious, speculation is that Bosh might have another blood clot. Last year around the same time of year, Bosh was ruled out for the rest of the season after discovering he had a blood clot in his lungs.
If Bosh is forced to miss the rest of the year like last year, a deal for Howard goes from likely to almost zero chance. Without Bosh, the Heat lose their top scorer and making a run at the Cavaliers for the Eastern Conference Finals now nearly impossible. Dwyane Wade is great and has been fantastic this season, but at this stage in his career, he isn't a carry-the-team-on-his-back guy anymore.
It would make no sense for the Heat to trade away so much talent to tie their hopes to Howard and Wade for only one season. A deal with the Heat could come down to Bosh's health.
The Rockets should look for other deals going forward. The Heat will likely be waiting until the very last minute in order to learn what the future holds for their highest-paid player.
