Houston Rockets vs. Phoenix Suns game preview

The post-deadline Rockets head to Phoenix to take on the new-look Suns.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Writing a preview post-deadline is tough. It's a little bit easier since we know the Rockets didn't add any new players. In fact, Houston gave up a rotation piece (Marcus Thornton) and a player who would have been in the rotation if he wasn't injured (Donatas Motiejunas).

Tonight and moving forward, we can expect Jason Terry to absorb most of Thornton's minutes. Gradually, we might see K.J. McDaniels and Sam Dekker get minutes backing up James Harden, but that depends on their progression and Houston's position in the standings. The Phoenix Suns also made a deadline deal. They traded Markieff Morris to the Washington Wizards for Kris Humphries, DeJuan Blair, and a first round pick. It's unclear as of this writing if Humphries and Blair will be available for the Suns. In the meantime, Houston has to remember that this Suns squad pushed them to the brink right before the All-Star game.

Tip-off is at 8:30pm CST.
