Houston Rockets vs. Portland Trail Blazers game preview

The Rockets look to tie the season series against the red-hot Portland Trail Blazers.

Steve Dykes-USA TODAY Sports

You're tired of the Portland Trail Blazers. I'm tired of the Portland Trail Blazers. We're all tired of the Portland Trail Blazers.

But the young Blazers continue to win. Winners of 6 in a row and 11 of their last 12, the Blazers are looking like a formidable opponent for the West elite in the first round of the playoffs. Once considered a rebuilding team, Portland has proven the pundits wrong.

Damian Lillard has five straight games of scoring 30 points. C.J. McCollum has scored 30+ in his last two and is capable of matching Lillard's output. Meyers Leonard is a Rocket killer through and through. In fact, there's a lot to like about Portland's team other than the fact that they play for the Blazers.

In all seriousness, tonight is a huge game for both teams. The Blazers want to push for a top 5 seed (entirely possible) and Houston fighting to make the playoffs (somewhat possible).

Tip-off is at 9:30pm CST on TNT.
