Houston Rockets vs. San Antonio Spurs game preview

The Rockets look to even the season series against the superb San Antonio Spurs.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

In any other year, the Spurs would be sitting pretty at 49-9. They would have run away with homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. Everyone would be talking about how their shift to a New Big 3 had been performed seamlessly. We'd be seeing articles like "The Spurs Will Never Be Bad" and "The Spurs Are the New Yankees."

Instead, we're still getting stupid "EVERYONE IS IGNORING THE SPURS!" posts because the Warriors are so freaking good. But anyone with a basketball eye can see that the NBA Finals will involve the Warriors or Spurs from the West and the Cavs from the East. That's it. Those three teams are head and shoulders above everyone else.

The Rockets' only hope now is to sneak into the playoffs and be fed like lambs to the slaughter against the Spurs or Warriors. Tonight, Houston can gain some semblance of confidence against the 5-time champions by evening up the season series.

And for fun, I would like to remind everyone of the glory that is Tony Parker's rap/hip-hop career.

Tip-off is at 7pm CST.
