Opening title odds for the Rockets next season

The underachievement of the Houston season is reflected in their opening Vegas odds.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

It's just two days after the close of the season, and the NBA title odds for next season are out already, from Westgate Las Vegas Superbook.

The Rockets have opened as a 60-1 longshot, which is tied for 11th in the league along with the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers. The Rockets opened at 18-1 last year.

That comes in just behind the 40-1 odds for the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks and just ahead of the 80-1 odds for the Memphis Grizzlies, Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz, and Los Angeles Lakers.

At the top of the list is the Golden State Warriors at 7-4, followed by this year's champion Cleveland Cavaliers at 5-2.

Perhaps the surprise of the list is the 20-1 odds for the Boston Celtics, which is the sixth-best odds in the entire Association.

The Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets are this year's longest of the longshots, opening at 500-1, 300-1 and 200-1, respectively.
