2016 NBA preseason schedule: Rockets to play Yao Ming's CBA team in preseason

The Rockets will be going back to China.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets will be heading back to China this preseason. But before the trip, they will open up at home, Oct. 2 against Yao Ming's Shanghai Sharks.

Two Americans highlight the Sharks team, former 2011 lottery pick Jimmer Fredette and former Pacers point guard A.J. Price. Last year, current Rockets forward Michael Beasley won the CBA MVP for the Sharks.

The Rockets will head to China to play the New Orleans Hornets, who will have Terrence Jones and be facing old friends Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson, on Oct. 9 and 12 in Shanghai and Beijing, respectively. Those should be fun, as far as preseason games go.

The preseason will come to an end on Oct. 21 on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.

In total, the Rockets will play in seven games, with three at home and four on the road. All games will be broadcast on Root Sports.

The Rockets regular season schedule will be released a little later this month. Look for the for the first time the Rockets play the Atlanta Hawks to be on national TV, likely in Houston.
