Another big win streak has the Rockets inching up the power rankings

An eight-game winning streak is tough to ignore.

The Rockets have now won eight straight games, which is their second such winning streak of the season thus far, and their 30-9 record has them fighting tooth and nail at the top of the Western Conference standings. They now just sit a game behind the San Antonio Spurs for second place and only 2.5 games back of the Golden State Warriors for the top spot.

Back in October, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone, even among us Rockets fans, that would have predicted this level of success. The Rockets have indeed exceeded all expectations thus far, and the only concern now is if they can keep it up in the second half of the season.

All this winning has even made some headway with a national press that has been historically tough on the Rockets, as they continue to inch their way up the weekly power rankings.

The Rockets have a tough schedule on tap for the rest of this week, as they start a back-to-back set tonight at home against the Charlotte Hornets followed by traveling tomorrow night to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves.

Then they return home on Friday face a Memphis Grizzlies team that’s playing good ball right now and has already defeated the Rockets earlier this season, followed by a journey east on Sunday to Brooklyn to take on the Nets.

That’s a busy slate on tap that features a lot of miles and a few tough match ups. Get through this busy week, and we’ll see our boys in red bump up even a little further.
