Houston Rockets vs. Memphis Grizzlies game preview

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at Houston Rockets Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets just keep winning despite injuries.

Tonight, they get a chance to avenge their only loss of the season, which came just a few days ago against these Memphis Grizzlies. After holding a lead for most of the night, Houston’s offense disappeared and the Grizzlies kept hitting shots. A ref also got in a passing lane to force a turnover, but I digress.

Memphis split a home-and-home with the Dallas Mavericks and the Rockets went on the road and beat the Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets.

Obviously, the Rockets are on a back-to-back and the Grizz are the home team. Because that’s how the NBA schedule works.

Memphis got the free throw line 37 (!) times in Houston, which explains how they won despite shooting 43% overall and 32% from deep. Their defense also held Houston to 9-38 shooting from deep for a 24% mark while forcing 17 turnovers. Eric Gordon, Clint Capela, and James Harden were all in foul trouble.

Basically, the game went as poorly as it possibly could for Houston. Some of that was definitely Memphis’s doing, but the Rockets also missed some good looks from deep. We’ll add another sample to the experiment tonight.

Tip-off is at 7pm CT
