Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz game preview

NBA: Utah Jazz at Houston Rockets Erik Williams-USA TODAY Sports

The Rockets finally get to play at Toyota Center again, after being forced to wander the road like the Israelites in the desert after the-okay that’s enough hyperbole.

The Utah Jazz are a different team once again. They lost George Hill and Gordon Hayward to the Boston Celtics, but proceeded to fill out their roster with Ricky Rubio(17/6/4), Jonas Jerebko, and Thabo Sefolosha.

Additionally, rookie Donovan Mitchell has been a contributor off the bench. Joe Johnson is dealing with a wrist injury, so Mitchell is getting a real trial run at running the offense with the backups. He has scored 22+ points in three of their last four games. He’s been playing the role of Eric Gordon for the Jazz. Soon, they’ll be forced to tailor more of their offense around him.

For now, the team belongs to Rubio and Rudy Gobert. The Spaniard runs the offense and the Frenchman anchors the defense. Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles man the wings and Derrick Favors can bang down low and has even been taking some shots from deep as well, though he’s just 1-10 from beyond the arc.

Tip-off is at 6pm CT
