After being a popular prospective draft choice for many Rockets fans, Dillon Brooks became a Rocket... only to be traded immediately to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Brooks was a three-point threat for Final Four-bound Oregon last season and was a key contributor to one of the most successful Oregon cores. Brooks would have been a very good fit for the Rockets’ three-point first offense, but the Rockets felt that trading him might have more value than keeping him on the roster.
I’m a little bummed about the fact that Brooks was available for both of the picks, Houston selects him, yet he won’t be a Rocket. Hopefully Daryl Morey won’t regret trading him inside the division and he doesn’t turn himself into one of those divisional Rocket killers.
The Rockets will receive a future second-round pick from Memphis.
