The Portland Trail Blazers cleared a 3-year, $56.3 million contract from their books on Tuesday.
The Blazers sent guard Allen Crabbe to the Brooklyn Nets for forward Andrew Nicholson, and Portland plans to waive him to get under the salary cap.
But what does a trade between the Trail Blazers and the Nets have to do with the Houston Rockets? A tweet from Trail Blazers broadcaster Mike Rice may have shed some light on the situation:
It looks like blazers will be part of Knicks 3team trade of Carmelo. No they won't get Carmelo. Stay tuned

Could the Houston Rockets be the third team that Rice is speaking of? And thus the logic home for Carmelo Anthony? All signs point to yes if the reports that Melo only wants to go to Houston even with the news of Kyrie Irving wanting out of Cleveland.
The New York Knicks haven't been bashful about letting it be known they don't want Ryan Anderson. But could the Trail Blazers be clearing the space needed to take on Anderson's 4-year, $80 million contract, which is only in year two?
