The Houston Rockets are coming off of a hard-fought weekend victory over the Golden State Warriors, and they’ll take on the Miami Heat tonight at the Toyota Center, where they will hope to avoid an emotional let-down against a Heat team that they match up poorly with.
Miami will be shorthanded, however, with Goran Dragic and Tyler Johnson not expected to play. Consequently, the Rockets will just be getting to full strength, with Trevor Ariza and Gerald Green coming off of their two-game suspension for being mad near the Clippers’ locker room.
It will be interesting to see how head coach Mike D’Antoni manages the rotation with everyone healthy and available, though he has already said he will, in fact, go 10-deep, though the minutes allocations are yet to be determined.
D'Antoni said he will try to play all 10 rotation guys. Ariza back in starting lineup. Will use more small lineups.— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) January 22, 2018
The other item to keep an eye out for is if the Rockets can overcome another hurdle this year, and that is by beating a second team that had their number last season. Though as many are quickly realizing after two wins in three games against the Dubs, this isn’t last year’s Rockets team.
I’d like to see them come out and handle their biz this evening and keep the momentum rolling. That would be a true sign of a maturing team.
