Winners of four of their last five and featuring two All-Star starters, the Pels are playing with confidence and are solidly in the sixth spot in the Western Conference.
Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins get most of the headlines for New Orleans, and for good reason. Davis is an athletic dynamo that can do just about anything on the court. For as much attention as Giannis Antetokounmpo gets for his athleticism, AD is a more polished version with more strength.
Cousins recently had a 44/23/10 game with four steals against the Bulls. His brand of bully-ball is complemented by his ability to spread the court and hit jumpers and threes. He’s done so much for his reputation this year by playing well and not causing problems in Nawlins. He’s proving that he’s still a top tier superstar and that teams should be ready to throw money at him this summer if they want his services.
The last time these teams met, the best player on the floor wasn’t Cousins, Jrue Holiday, or AD (who was injured). It was E’Twaun Moore. He torched the Rockets to the tune of 36 points on 15-20 shooting and 6-8 from deep. He didn’t take a single free throw and frankly, he didn’t need to.
The Rockets have their work cut out for them tonight, and dealing with the Pels’ top-end talent is a difficult proposition, especially on the road.
Tip-off is at 7pm CT on ESPN
