For what seems like the first time in forever, the Houston Rockets are facing a team on a back-to-back without being a back-to-back themselves.
Last night, the Detroit Pistons lost by 36 points in Philadelphia. They shot 38% from the field as a team and were outrebounded 55-34. It’s a game they almost assuredly can’t wait to rebound from as they return home to take on an up-and-down Rockets squad.
Life without James Harden continues for the Rockets. They are now 1-1 without the Beard, though they showed real fight against the Warriors at Toyota Center. With CP3 at the helm, Houston’s offense looks to still be its normal lethal self. However, defense will need to be the focus for Houston moving forward. After all, without Haren (get it? No “d”) the Rockets’ defense should be vastly improved, right?
Tonight’s game will tell us a lot about Houston. Their ability to cope with Andre Drummond and Detroit’s cadre of athletic wings will serve as a nice test of Houston’s fight as they attempt to form an identity sans Harden.
