According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Rockets are expected to announce that Carmelo Anthony will be waived.
Carmelo Anthony’s brief stop with the Houston Rockets is over, league sources tell ESPN. Anthony will part ways with team, although there are no immediate plans to place 10-time All-Star on waivers. Team announcement is expected before Rockets play Golden State tonight.

The team has yet to announce the roster move however, which does add some doubt to the move as the Rockets have said nothing but great things about Melo and have talked about wishing to keep him.
However, it looks like Melo’s heart has left the team as he has been away with the team for a week and will miss a fourth consecutive game tonight against the Warriors.
We will keep you updated on this developing story at The Dream Shake.
Update: The Rockets released the following statement from GM Daryl Morey in regards to Anthony.
“After much internal discussion, the Rockets will be parting ways with Carmelo Anthony and we are working toward a resolution, Carmelo had a tremendous approach during his time with the Rockets and accepted every role head coach Mike D’Antoni gave him. The fit we envisioned when Carmelo chose to sign with the Rockets has not materialized, therefore we thought it was best to move on as any other outcome would have been unfair to him.”
The Rockets are not planning to release Anthony right away, and according to ESPN, they will “allow his representatives to survey the marketplace for a landing spot, which has been an ongoing process in recent days.”
It was a short-lived experiment that didn’t work out, so both parties are moving on, and the Rockets are giving Melo the professional courtesy of not cutting him until he makes a decision on his future.
