Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers game preview

NBA: Houston Rockets at Los Angeles Lakers Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Houston won, so we’re happy again, right?

Didn’t think so.

Tonight marks the second matchup of the season between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers and the first since Rajon Rondo spit on Chris Paul and started a mini-brawl that involved Brandon Ingram too.

So we’re in for fireworks tonight, right?

Well, no. Both Rondo and Ingram didn’t make the trip to Houston so we’re going to miss out on the beef renewed. It allows the Lakers fans to get even more frothy the next time the Rockets head to Staples, since the entire city of Los Angeles hates the entire city of Houston based on the reaction the Rockets get every time they play the Lakers or Clippers. Hey LA, the Astros say hi.

In all seriousness, the Lakers are 17-10 and sit one game back in the loss column from the top teams in the West. They have won six of their last seven and have played consistent basketball. I came into the season thinking they would have to scrape for a spot in the playoffs, but so far they have proven me wrong. I guess that LeBron James guy is pretty good.

Obviously, this isn’t the mailbag preview but a promise is a promise. It’ll be out sometime in the next few weeks before the end of December. If you have a question that follows the normal format of a Bill Simmons mailbag, please leave it below or shoot me an email at ak2themax@gmail.com.

Tip-off is at 7pm CT on TNT
