Houston Rockets vs. Memphis Grizzlies game preview

NBA: Preseason-Houston Rockets at Memphis Grizzlies Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

Houston faces another Southwest Division foe tonight, and it’s the first time these teams are meeting this season. That’s in direct contrast to last season, when the teams were done with all four of their games by Thanksgiving.

The Memphis Grizzlies made some headlines last night when they nixed a three-team trade because they believed they were trading MarShon Brooks, not Dillon Brooks. The whole story seems it came out of an episode of The League, except it’s way funnier because it’s actually real.

I need to ask: how does this have to make MarShon feel? The entire trade fell apart because Phoenix just didn’t think he was close enough in talent to Dillon. So now, MarShon has to go to work and see a guy that he directly knows holds more value than he does around the league.

Memphis lost last night at home to the Miami Heat, 100-97. The starting unit for Memphis played well, but the bench was less effective. Memphis features Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, as always, as well as Kyle Anderson, Garrett Temple, and rookie Jaren Jackson, Jr, who gives the Grizzlies the athleticism that they’ve lacked in recent years.

Chandler Parsons is still out with a knee injury.

Tip-off is at 7pm CT
