Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game preview

NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves at Houston Rockets Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Rockets want to go into the All-Star break on a winning streak. In order to do that, they have to win out.

That journey starts tonight in Minnesota, where the Timberwolves are sitting only half a game behind the San Antonio Spurs for the third spot in the West. While the Wolves are talented and well-coached, I think most Rockets fans would rather see Minny than San Antonio again. Plus, that would give the Spurs a chance to take down the Warriors in the second round. The pipe dream is OKC falling to seventh or eighth to face GS in the first round, but that’s unlikely.

Since these teams met last month, the Wolves are 6-6, but that includes 5-0 at home. In fact, Minny hasn’t lost at home since-

At 23-6, Minny has the best home record in the West and have won 13 straight in the confines of the Target Center.

If Houston wants to go into the break on a winning streak and if they are serious about the top seed in the West, they’re going to have to go and take Minnesota’s home court away from the Wolves tonight.

It’s a tall task. Still, these Rockets have been up to tall tasks this year.

Tip-off is at 7pm CT
