According to Shams Charania, the Knicks have signed former Rocket Troy Williams to a ten-day contract.
Free agent Troy Williams is signing a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks, league sources said. Williams decided among several interested teams since release from Houston last week.

Williams makes a lot of sense for the Knicks as he is still an incredibly young player and the team is heading for a rebuild. With Kristaps Porzingis out for the year with a torn ACL, the team is looking towards next year and trying to find young players that can fit the core of the team.
With New York out of the mix for the playoffs, Williams should see playing time throughout a good chunk of his ten-day contract. The Knicks have four games during that stretch, including Boston and Golden State. These games will give Williams the perfect opportunity to showcase his talent.
After the Rockets signed Joe Johnson, the team scrambled to clear a roster spot and cut Williams. However, the move was then redacted after the two sides had supposedly changed their minds. After signing a three-year deal in the offseason, it was clear that the team did not want to release Williams until they were absolutely forced to.
Hopefully he’ll cling on to another team, and the Knicks are smart to give him a shot.
