Western Conference Finals 2018: Rockets vs. Warriors Game 6 thread

The Rockets have a chance to punch a ticket to the Finals at Oracle.

I’m going to go full Rocket optimist here, this is not meant to be a super analytical piece, but rather a piece spoken from the heart.

Yes, I know Chris Paul isn’t playing. He’s been the vocal leader of this team. He’s been the guy that has not only elevated this team from good to great but the guy who has made this team a title contender. In this postseason, he has bailed James Harden out of situations that he was not there for. And yes, it sucks tremendously that he is not playing tonight’s game and that we might not see CP3 on the floor for a while.

But, let’s forget about that and look at what we have in front of us.

THE HOUSTON ROCKETS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM GOING TO THE NBA FINALS.

Tonight could very well be the night, guys. Yes, I know we are playing Golden State in their building without CP3, but guys, THE HOUSTON ROCKETS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM GOING TO THE NBA FINALS. Yes, Vegas has us as big underdogs, but when in this series have the Rockets not been the underdog? When in this season have the Rockets not been the underdog? I think people are failing to realize that THE HOUSTON ROCKETS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM GOING TO THE NBA FINALS.

I’m a fan born in 1998, which means that I have not seen a Rockets team that has excelled as much as this team has, so I could very well be exaggerating the fact that THE HOUSTON ROCKETS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM GOING TO THE NBA FINALS.

But I know that even for older Rockets fans, that this is a long time coming. Bill Clinton was president the last time the Rockets won a championship. Yao Ming was 14 years old the last time the Rockets won a championship. The World Wide Web was four years old the last time the Rockets won a championship.

This team is not just Chris Paul. We have the overwhelming favorite for league MVP playing tonight. We have the bloody Mayor of Houston playing tonight. We also have a freaking prince from Cameroon playing tonight! The team that is going out on the floor tonight is still very good and can grab a win.

I don’t care about the opposition. What has made this team special is that this version of the Rockets has the mentality that they can go out on any given night and win any game against any opponent. They’ve beaten the team everyone said would sweep them after Game 1 in three of the last four games. So, am I surprised that THE HOUSTON ROCKETS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM GOING TO THE NBA FINALS? No.

Do I think that the Rockets can get that win? Absolutely. And anyone who thinks they have no chance is ridiculous.

They said they wouldn’t have a chance when Chris Paul came to Houston.

They said they wouldn’t have a chance at the beginning of the series.

They said they wouldn’t have a chance after losing Game 1 at home.

They said they wouldn’t have a chance after losing Game 3 by 41 points.

So why does anyone think this team doesn’t have a chance now?

All I know is the Warriors need two wins in the next two games and all the pressure is on them tonight to win while THE HOUSTON ROCKETS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM GOING TO THE NBA FINALS.
