According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the three-team trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to the Hawks was made official today, which means that the Hawks can officially put Melo on waivers.
Carmelo Anthony has finalized buyout with the Atlanta Hawks, giving back $2.4M of his $27.9M salary, league sources tell ESPN. That's veteran's minimum he'll get back with new team. Anthony will wait to clear waivers in 48 hours to officially tell Rockets of intentions to sign.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 30, 2018
Anthony will be officially placed on waivers today, and when he clears them, he will become a free agent and sign with the Rockets at the league-minimum $2.4 million.
If the Rockets were on the two-yard line last year, it’s 1st & Goal at the 1-inch line now. Melo will clear waivers in 48 hours, which will pave the way for the Rockets to officially make Melo a Houston Rocket as early as Wednesday.
It looks like the long road for Melo to get to Houston is finally coming to an end.
