The Rockets’ final 15 is now in place after the waiving of three players last night.
The recently signed Matur Maker, former Phoenix Suns big man Ray Spalding and St. John’s undrafted rookie Shamorie Ponds were waived last night as the Rockets’ roster now stands at 15.
Here is the Rockets’ 15-man roster:
Guards: Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Austin Rivers, Eric Gordon, Ben McLemore
Wings/Forwards: Danuel House, P.J. Tucker, Thabo Sefolosha, Gary Clark, Ryan Anderson, Gerald Green
Centers: Clint Capela, Tyson Chandler, Isaiah Hartenstein, Nene Hilario
However, this roster is far from “final.”
Chris Clemons is not featured on this roster because his contract has been converted into a two-way contract and he will be back and forth between Houston and Rio Grande Valley with the Vipers.
Gary Clark and Danuel House were on two-way deals last season but they were converted to NBA contracts after strong showings in Houston. With early injuries to the Rockets backcourt, the same might happen for Clemons. He will certainly get a shot.
The Rockets have one more slot for a two-way player and it could possibly go to one of the players they bid farewell to after training camp.
The Rockets also have to figure out whether or not they will keep Gerald Green and Nene, who are out indefinitely with injuries.
It’s very likely that Green will miss the season with an apparent Lisfranc foot injury and Nene’s contract balloons to a crazy amount nine days after the trade deadline, so it likely means that his time as a Rocket is nearing its end.
So while this roster may be “final” it is anything but final.
