Houston Rockets vs. Phoenix Suns game preview

The Houston Rockets are coming off their most impressive win of the season against the Toronto Raptors and face the upstart Phoenix Suns tonight in their return to the Toyota Center.

The Suns started 5-2 with victories over the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers, but have since come back to Earth at 10-11. The Suns have gotten contributions from their young core as well as the few veterans they have. The team’s decision to lean into youth is the right move, and if they continue this way they can grow together into a perennial playoff power.

Aron Baynes has been a huge part of Phoenix’s rise into the playoff spots, but he’s missed Phoenix’s last three games with a calf injury. If he’s out again, Frank Kaminsky will get the start, which bodes well for a Houston team that struggles with bruisers inside.

The Rockets need to win games like this at home against playoff teams to achieve a level of consistency. Against a hungry young Suns squad, the Rockets need to put their foot on the gas early and try to put the game to bed quickly.

Tip-off is at 7pm CT
