Knight is currently in the fourth year of his five-year contract, and is making a substantial $14.6 million this season, $15.6 million next season. The guard has appeared in 12 games for the Rockets this season, averaging just under 10 minutes a game.
It’s hard to say if the Rockets will acquire anyone serviceable from the Grizzlies, but with Memphis willing to trade franchise players Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, there may be some hope. 6’9” forward JaMychal Green has been on a lot of Rockets fans wish lists, and with his defense, size, and shooting, it would be a perfect addition for the Rockets down the stretch.
The NBA trade deadline is only six days from now, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m.
