2019 NBA Finals Game One Thread

Oh. Canada.

NBA: Playoffs-Milwaukee Bucks at Toronto Raptors
Still laughing at you, Budenholzer!
John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Finally here, NBA fans. A cross-border NBA Finals!

A Finals to check xenophobia right into the centre of the boards! Perhaps, through the miracle of sport, citizens of the two nations with the world’s longest unguarded border will lay aside their bloody generational feuds and live in peace for a few weeks.

It is also a time to break out every cheap dollar, or loonie, Canadian cliche you know. Time to see how that old Canadian girlfriend you made up all those years ago is getting along. (Married, two kids, husband Maurice, a Quebecois, lives in Calgary now.) Time to make hockey jokes, despite the almost maniacal and obsessive level of basketball fandom in Toronto. Time to see if any moose are around. Time to check in with Raptors super-troll Drake, in the 6ix.

So sit down on the Chesterfield, and dig into that poutine, my friends, its basketball time, Canadian style!
