Did you know that Bleacher Report’s sneaker brand BR Kicks has an annual NBA Sneaker King award? Neither did I. Did you know that the Houston Rockets’ own P.J. Tucker has now won the award two years in a row? Neither did I.
That doesn’t make me any less proud.
That’s right, after another year of extremely rare, beautiful, and flat-out unattainable heat, P.J Tucker was crowned BR Kicks 2019 NBA Sneaker King.

The award was given to Tucker on the night of the NBA Awards on TNT on the red carpet — a pretty dope statue of a gold-colored pair of Air Jordan 1s, à la the Ocars, Golden Globes, etc.
If you scroll down BR Kicks feed a little, you can watch the extended interview with P.J. Tucker, including some great P.J. sneaker facts like: He determines the day of games what shoe he wants to wear. He gets rid of shoes after bad games; once wearing six shoes in a single game. His favorite shoes of all time is the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago.” He wears dad shoes in his off time.
This award just adds to the incredible year P.J. Tucker has had, both on and off the court. Let’s be honest here, though, much like how the NBA Finals MVP award is named after Bill Russell for his postseason dominance, this award name needs to be changed ASAP to the P.J. Tucker award.
By the way, he accomplished all his shoe dominance without even having a signature silhouette of his own. That’s greatness.
