Well, TDS, it’s finally here. After a long summer without any real NBA basketball, it’s the official first day of autumn, and with that, the return of our beloved, red-clad home team is finally in sight.
The Houston Rockets are getting ready to kick off 2019 training camp, which starts this Saturday, September 28. But before we get into that, it’s Rockets media day, which is this Friday, and for the first time, TDS will have boots on the ground, which we’re very excited about. Looking forward to the player and coach interviews.
After that, we won’t have to wait long to see what James Harden and Russell Westbrook look like reunited (and it feels so good), as the Rockets kick off a six-game preseason schedule on Monday, September 30 with a home contest against the Shanghai Sharks. That’s a 7:00pm tip.
Next, the Rockets will play Friday, October 4 in Honolulu, Hawaii versus the Los Angeles Clippers and then travel to Tokyo for the NBA Japan Games on Tuesday, October 8 and Thursday, October 10 for two contests against the Toronto Raptors. After that, they’ll return home for a game against the San Antonio Spurs on October 16 and then finish up the preseason schedule with an away game against the Miami Heat on October 18.
Houston’s regular season kicks off on Thursday, October 24 with a nationally televised tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Toyota Center.
Rejoice, Rockets fans. The NBA season is just about upon us. Thank goodness, because pro football just bores me to tears anymore.
