Tonight, Commissioner Adam Silver will welcome 60 new players to the league during the 2020 NBA Draft. The Minnesota Timberwolves hold the No. 1 pick and is projected to select Anthony Edwards from Georgia. After trading Robert Covington to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, the Houston Rockets traded their No. 16 pick and Trevor Ariza to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for a future first round-pick.
Tonight’s virtual draft would have marked the first time since selecting Sam Dekker (18th overall) in 2015 that the Rockets held a first round pick. The last time Houston held the 16th pick, they selected the controversial Royce White from Iowa State in 2012.
Houston is trading Trevor Ariza and the No. 16 pick tonight to Detroit for a future first-round pick, sources tell ESPN. The deal gives the Rockets - a hard-capped team -- the freedom to use their mid-level exception in free agency.

Although reports show that they are ”willing to get uncomfortable” with their two disgruntled stars, tonight, the Rockets could depart from James Harden and Russell Westbrook in a blockbuster deal.
In addition to Antohony Edwards, James Wiseman (Warriors) and LaMelo Ball (Hornets) will likely round out the top three selections. The 2020 NBA Draft is slated to tip-off tonight at 7:00 pm CT on ESPN.
