SB Nation Reacts: NBA preseason power rankings

Where do the Rockets appear?

NBA: Playoffs-Houston Rockets at Los Angeles Lakers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Basketball is back this week, with the Houston Rockets opening their preseason schedule on Friday against the Chicago Bulls, and there’s been a fair amount of player movement that could change the championship contender landscape this season.

So before things kick off later this week, SB Nation Reacts asked our league-wide voters to rank all 30 NBA teams in a preseason power rankings. So without further wait:

The Rockets finished right about where I expected them to in the league-wide voting, but I personally had them higher, assuming, of course, that the roster doesn’t change and everyone is on the court as expected... ahem James Harden.

I think it’s probably a pretty fair poll overall, though, and I don’t think anyone doubts that Houston’s power rankings arrow is currently pointing downward.

The second question we asked our voters was, “what the biggest boost of the offseason”, and our voters have definitely been heard on this one.

There you have it. It wasn’t unanimous, but it might as well have been.

We’ll continue to ask both league-wide questions and also Rockets-centric questions throughout the season, so if you’d like to join in on the fun by becoming one of our voters, head over here to sign up!
