There will be a completely brand-new NBA game played tonight between the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards — sort of (but also not really).
The Rockets were set to host the Wizards Friday night in Houston, and that’s exactly what they’ll do — again, sort of. Instead of hosting only games passed from this season and classic games from their archives, NBC Sports Washington and Monumental Sports Network continue the spirit of the Wizards’ 2020 season through NBA 2K20 simulation games. They are also doing the same with their NHL team, the Washington Capitals.
The local NBC sports affiliate, who seem to be way ahead of the game, has been hosting game simulations as early as March 21. Since that time, the virtual Wizards (great band name) have gone 7-2, even without the presence of John Wall (games are played with updated rosters).
If you’re not here for the simulated stuff, then you can stick around after for a replay of the offensive classic between Houston and Washington earlier this season, on Oct. 30, when the Rockets bested the Wizards, 159-158. In that game, James Harden went off for 59 points, Russell Westbrook notched a triple-double, and Bradley Beal had 46.

The games can be viewed via the local NBC Sports Washington channel and its streaming platforms or the Monumental Sports Network website and any of its streaming apps. You can sign up for a seven-day free trial on the Monumental Sports site and cancel for free at any time (no, this isn’t an advertisement).
