Houston Rockets vs. Toronto Raptors preseason game preview

So, where were we?

The Houston Rockets begin their restart today against the defending champion Toronto Raptors. Toronto is 3 games up on the Boston Celtics for the second seed in the Eastern Conference and 6.5 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the top spot in the East. Obviously, it’s not a stretch to think that the Raptors are pretty much locked into the 2 spot, especially since there are only eight seeding games before the playoffs begin.

Tonight’s matchup does not count for seeding purposes, and is mostly to get teams and referees back in game shape for when the contests matter.

As far as rosters go, the Toronto Raptors have not had anyone opt-out of the restart, so they are the same team as they were in March. Thabo Sefolosha decided against participating in the restart, so Houston signed old favorite Luc Richard Mbah a Moute to his spot. LRMAM probably won’t get a ton of run when the games matter, but these warm-up games could be a good chance to see him in action.

For Houston, their system should be unchanged and we should see plenty of small ball with James Harden and Russell Westbrook running the show. Shooters will shoot, and the defense will switch a ton.

What are you looking forward to, TDS? Anything in particular?

Tip-off is at 6:30pm CT on NBA TV
