Fifteen Games, Eleven Lineups

The Houston Rockets face their first back-to-back game of this strange NBA season, but one thing hasn’t changed: the lineup uncertainty.

Tonight John Wall will probably play.

Victor Oladipo will not, as his load is being managed.

Christian Wood will not play, but will probably play soon.

Kevin Porter Jr. has not yet appeared with the Rockets and won’t tonight.

Danuel House is still missing.

This will mark the Rockets 11th different starting lineup in 15 games. While it’s true that many teams are experiencing similar issues, there doesn’t seem to be a team taking it to the extreme that the Rockets have. Moreover, it’s not role players that are constantly missing, but the key players, the key pieces of whatever team the Rockets may eventually become.

At some point we can hope the stars align and John Wall, Victor Oladipo, Christian Wood, Eric Gordon and Danuel House all play in a game together. But that would probably mean that others can’t.

At any rate, we’ll see if having a point guard helps. I suspect it will, up to a point, but that Luka and the Lukettes will go 25-20 with their 3pt shooting and the Rockets will fall.

Trust the process or something.

In any case, don’t get too upset either way.
