Houston Rockets vs. San Antonio Spurs preseason game preview

The Houston Rockets wrap up their preseason tonight with a trip to San Antonio. The Rockets will have a handful of days off before starting the regular season next Wednesday.

The Rockets announced the signing of Armoni Brooks to a four-year deal, so Houston’s roster is practically set. Usually, late preseason games like this are to allow the back-end players to show off their skills and make one final impression (for other NBA teams, for the G-League, etc.). We’ll see how Stephen Silas plays this one.

Mostly, tonight is one final hurdle before the games matter and we get to really see how this team works. It’s also the same night as Game 1 of the ALCS between the Astros and Boston Red Sox, so I’m sure Houston fans will be channel flipping like crazy.

The Spurs had some turnover, with DeMar DeRozan traded to Chicago and Patty Mills signing with Brooklyn. The DeRozan trade netted them Rockets killers Thaddeus Young and Al-Farouq Aminu. They also signed Doug McDermott and Zach Collins. They also drafted Josh Primo in the first round, and he’s looked good in Summer League and preseason action. At just 18 years old, it looks like San Antonio once again found a gem.

Tip-off is at 7:30pm CT on AT&T SportsNet Southwest
