In recognition of their 75th season, the NBA announced “The 75 Greatest Players in NBA History”. This list was voted on by active players, retired legends, and other NBA personnel. The Houston Rockets had their share of representation, as several of the organization’s past members were selected for this prestigious honor.

In total, 11 former Rockets players were named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. In other words, 14% of the greatest players in NBA history have suited up for the Rockets. Houston holds the third highest rate of former players selected, behind only the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

All 50 members of the NBA’s 50th Anniversary Team were reselected for the 75th Anniversary Team. From this list, Houston rostered the likes of Charles Barkley, Rick Barry, Clyde Drexler, Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Scottie Pippen.

Of the additional 26 players selected, Houston is represented by Carmelo Anthony, James Harden, Chris Paul, and Russell Westbrook. This era in Rockets history can be dated to the late 2010s.

Whether these legends played for Houston for one game or an entire career, we’d like to extend our sincere congratulations for their contributions to the NBA.
