SB Nation Reacts: Rockets MVP so far

Which one did you vote for?

We have quite a bit to go over in SB Nation Reacts today, including a flash, one-day national poll that came back with some interesting results, so let’s get right to it.

We’ll start with the local questions, since we had a good one there too this week. Our first Rockets question asked who was the team’s MVP so far this season: Christian Wood, John Wall, or Victor Oladipo?

I was honestly a little surprised by that vote. Wood has obviously been a huge piece for the Rockets, and that ankle injury could really put a dampen on the team’s playoff chances, but I voted for John Wall. Houston’s offense looks rudderless when Wall sits, so that’s my rationale. I expected Wood and Wall to finish close in this one, but it ended in a blowout. Hurry back, Christian!

Next, we asked for our weekly Rockets fan confidence, and that has dipped down this week due to several losses.

As you can see, this is the second lowest fan confidence has been all season, but I’m still feeling optimistic despite a sluggish period on the court for the Rockets. I think the team is heading in the right direction in the big picture, even after some disheartening losses with partial lineups due to injury/rest.

We also had a group of national questions this week, and we’ll start with our flash poll. With the current national anthem controversy, we asked our national voters whether or not the anthem should still be played at sporting events. Here’s what you all had to say:

I also thought this would be more split down the middle, but with the NBA skewing primarily towards a younger demographic, it makes sense in retrospect. I was with the minority on this one, voting yes. My personal opinion is that the anthem should be played as recognition for the fact that we live in a country that allows us to pursue these types of leisurely exploits, as not everyone can say that, though I certainly understand why some (or most, as it seems) out there might not feel the same.

There were several other interesting national questions this week, and the Rockets made another appearance. We asked our voters which 2020 Western Conference Playoff team would miss the postseason in 2021.

I took the Thunder, but I certainly understand why the Rockets have appeared so high on this list. I still think they end up squeaking in, especially once Wood gets back healthy, but only time will tell.

In addition we asked the question the other way. Which Western Conference team that didn’t make it in 2020 is most likely in the dance in 2021?

Suns were an easy pick for me, as it seems it was for most of you.

Both questions were also asked about the Eastern Conference. Here are those results.

That’s it for this week. Make sure you sign up for SB Nation Reacts, as we’ll continue to have Rockets-related questions for all of our Houston voters. You can sign up here.
