Rockets vs. Celtics game preview: oh we play again today?

NBA: Houston Rockets at Boston Celtics Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

First, the injuries. The Houston Rockets will be without Christian Wood, John Wall, Eric Gordon, Danuel House Jr., and PJ Tucker. David Nwaba is questionable.

Those are six of Houston’s actual NBA players. The others are Victor Oladipo, Jae’Sean Tate, Ben McLemore, and Kevin Porter Jr. You’ll notice there are no big men on that list. That is a problem. It has been a problem for 15 games. There is no sign of the problem getting solved anytime soon.

It’s been a frustrating season for Rockets fans to go along with a frustrating 15 months for Houston sports fans. The Houston Dash did win the NWSL Challenge Cup last year, so there’s some good history in all this depressing sports world.

The Boston Celtics were expected to compete for the Eastern Conference crown this year. At 19-18, they have struggled to meet expectations. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were well-deserving All-Stars, but the team success just hasn’t materialized. I wonder if a poor season will put Brad Stevens on the hot seat. Either way, he’s likely to pick up a win tonight.

Tip-off is at 7pm CT on AT&T SportsNet Southwest
