Rockets vs. Warriors game preview: not a rivalry anymore

NBA: Playoffs-Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

In another year, I might have lamented that the Rockets had to play the Golden State Warriors on the second night of a back-to-back when the Warriors had Tuesday off.

We all know that doesn’t matter.

The Rockets are on game 3 of a 7-game homestand. The next two games after tonight are against the Pistons and Thunder Then there’s the away series at Minnesota. The Rockets have to win one of these games, right?

The Warriors have Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr., James Wiseman, Kevon Looney, Kent Bazemore, and Eric Paschall.

The Rockets have Kevin Porter Jr. and Jae’Sean Tate.

Things could get interesting for Houston if Ben McLemore is out again and if Victor Oladipo sits out the back-to-back for rest. The Rockets would then have only seven players, which is below the minimum required to play. Christian Wood could make his return, but it’s unlikely.

Tip-off is at 7pm CT on AT&T SportsNet Southwest
