Houston and Golden State are definitely not where they would like to be. The Rockets are vying for a bottom three spot in the league, while the Warriors are 24-28 and are currently in 10th place in the West.
Both teams are coming off losses last night. The Rockets lost due to a disastrous second quarter to the Clippers. Meanwhile, the Warriors blew a late 3-point lead against the Wizards by giving up a 4-point play to Bradley Beal. I expect the Warriors to be motivated to come out swinging, and I expect Houston to play like they usually do.
With Detroit’s win Thursday night, the Rockets are now two games ahead of them for the second-worst record in the league and three games ahead of Orlando, who are sitting in the dreaded fourth-worst spot. Washington’s win also gives Houston a bit of breathing room, but it does seem like a lot of teams at the bottom have now committed fully to tanking. The race to the bottom will come down to the final weeks.
Tip-off is at 9pm CT on AT&T SportsNet Southwest
