Rockets vs. Warriors game preview: dropping 30 is light work

NBA: Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets are trying to hold onto their top-3 lottery odds. Meanwhile, the Warriors are trying to hold onto their play-in spot. Currently sitting in 10th, they have a bit of a cushion ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans. However, finishing 10th would mean they would have to beat two teams (probably Memphis and San Antonio) to advance to the actual playoffs.

The big story for Houston is their win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night. Kevin Porter Jr. dropped 50 points, allowing Houston fans to have a glimmer of hope about the future for the first time since the Russell Westbrook trade. Now, Rockets fans will pray that KPJ’s 50-point game is the first of many, and not a random blip like it was for Terrence Ross or Tony Delk.

Tonight’s game is on national television for some reason. If I had to guess, that reason is probably Steph Curry, who became a trendy media pick for MVP because everyone gets bored towards the end of the season. Plus, Curry scored 30 points in 11 straight games. Have you ever heard of such an incredible run?

Tip-off is at 6:30pm CT on ESPN and AT&T SportsNet Southwest
