So tonight’s feast of basketball brings us the Portland Trailblazers facing elimination by the Denver Nuggets at home in Portland, after a momentous, memorable and meritorious performance by Damian Lillard. It’s pretty tough to have that many points and a 98TS% in a playoff game.
Denver nonethess won Game 5, and now leads the series 3-2. Who will triumph? Will there be a Game 7 in Denver? Will presumptive MVP Nikola Jokic overcome Lillard? It’s anyone’s guess, though I think we will see a Game 7, as the Portland crowd (and isn’t it nice to have CROWDS?) will carry the Trailblazers to victory.
In the West Coast nightcap, we have Chris Paul’s Phoenix Suns attempting to eliminate Lebron James, and Anthony Davis’ Groin Pain. Will Davis play? Will Lebron phone it in, or strive for the ultimate drama of Game 7? How many more FTs will the Lakers shoot than Phoenix? 5? 10? 20?
It’s a fascinating night for either basketball, or narrative, and possibly both.
