Rookie Usman Garuba looking to play bigger roles with Houston Rockets

Playing as a teenager for the perennial Spanish title contender Real Madrid, the court role for Usman Garuba was often considered to be limited. But following his transition to the NBA, the 19-year-old star remains optimistic that the rebuilding status of the Houston Rockets will bring him even greater opportunities.

Garuba, who stands 6-foot-8, is known as a prodigy for his defensive capabilities. Entering the 2021 NBA Draft, he was picked at No. 23 in the first round.

During his recent interview with Spanish outlet Marca, this is what the former Madrid player had to say about his move to Houston Rockets.

When asked what he feels he should improve on as a rookie in the NBA for the upcoming 2021-22 regular season, Garuba said during the interview via casino us online casino: "Having the ball in my hands more time and those kinds of things that I could not do in Madrid, where I have had to adapt to a role due to the type of players there are (on Real Madrid). In general, to be able to do more and more things."

Ever since the trading of James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets, who now have the deadly trio, things have not remained the same for the Houston Rockets franchise. The team achieved a new low and are now in a rebuilding process to push themselves back to a top team.

When asked what this means to his player development in the NBA, Garuba added: "I’m on a team that is undergoing ‘reconstruction,’ with many young players who are going to give a lot of prominence. Our key is going to improve day by day, and that’s my goal, too.

"To go day by day, working and improving many aspects that I wasn’t able to do these years due to the demands of Real Madrid, which is normal."

He also revealed that he and coaches at the Rockets haven't spoken deeply about what position he will be playing on the court.

He said: "We have spoken about it. I will be playing in various different positions, that's the idea, to try out different things. I can't say for certain that I'll be playing as a '5' oe a '4', I'll be changing my position".

Regarding his comparisons with Luka Doncic, a superstar for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA, Garuba downplayed those comparisons saying jeux de casino argent reel :"There is only one Doncic and I am a completely different player. What we do have in common is that we were team mates together at Real Madrid and both of us have come to the NBA at the same age, but we are totally different."

He had an average playing time of 19 minutes per game during his time with Real Madrid, both in Liga ACB and EuroLeague games. But we should be seeing the player in more games this season as the Houston Rockets aims to unlock his potential in the NBA.
