The Houston Rockets are on a two-game losing streak after falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers in overtime 135-130. To add insult to injury the NBA released a statement today that the league has fined Dillon Brooks $35,000 for “directing inappropriate language toward a game official and publicly criticizing the officiating” and head coach Ime Udoka $25,000 for “directing inappropriate language toward a game official”.
Of course, this stems from both Udoka and Brooks being ejected at the end of the Houston Rockets loss on Sunday to the Bucks where both Brooks and Udoka were not happy at all with officiating in the game.
One thing you can say about Ime is he will always stick up for his players pic.twitter.com/pTEqQDFyCG— Lachard Binkley (@BinkleyHoops) December 18, 2023
Brooks was hustling for a loose ball before it went out of bounds and was, for some reason, called for a foul (flopping) even though it was clear that Brooks was pushed out of bounds. This led to Brooks going at the referee and Udoka defending his player and going at the same official. Udoka discussed what led to the incident after the game.
As you can see, Coach Udoka did not hold back in his disdain for the officiating in the loss to the Bucks. The Rockets felt it went beyond just the above-mentioned play and went on throughout the game.
We have not received any comments from Brooks or Udoka on the fines as more than likely they will just pay the fine and move on, but Udoka and Brooks were able to get their money's worth before leaving the court on Sunday.
